Mentori Ghana
Mentori connects inspirational entrepreneurs in Ghana with business professionals around the world for tailored business-to-business mentoring via a new online collaboration platform. The virtual set-up means that Mentori can be accessed from any public or private internet access point and that both, mentors and mentees, can fit the mentoring around their existing commitments.
How does it work?
Mentori matches the business mentoring requests of individual entrepreneurs in Ghana with the skills and expertise of experienced business professionals, who will have volunteered to be a mentor. Mentors will then coach mentees to develop their own creative business ideas and practices via the Mentori platform for an average of one hour per week over approximately six months. Rather than telling mentees what to do, mentors will use their business skills to ask insightful questions that help the mentee identify their own solutions to their issues. Mentees have the responsibility of choosing which actions are best for their business.
Mentori recommends that mentors and mentees utilize the International Finance Corporation’s SME Toolkit (www.smetoolkit.org), which provides a wide range of free training content and tools to help small businesses implement sustainable business management practices.
Where mentees are looking to access finance, mentors in collaboration with Barclays Bank Ghana, will work with SME’s to build their ability to submit well developed loan applications.
Who are the Mentors?
Business professionals recruited by Mentori to become mentors are currently:
- Professionals with an outstanding track record of professional business experience
- are specifically trained in coaching practice
